Practice notes

Andrew specialises in intellectual property issues, brand protection, reputation management and media related work. He regularly advises on advertising, trade marks, copyright issues (particularly in relation to the music industry), media rights, anti-counterfeiting, online disputes, defamation and privacy.

Andrew provides advice to major brand owners on IP protection and exploitation.  This includes portfolio management, high profile sponsorship arrangements (including for the Olympics and the Tour De France), trade mark litigation, ASA complaints and advertising clearances. He has particular expertise in comparative advertising issues.

He also provides reputation management and protection advice for a wide range of clients both by way of preventative action and involvement in post-publication disputes. He has obtained a number of privacy injunctions to protect clients and acted against the Wall Street Journal Europe in a major libel action. Andrew regularly provides training in this area to clients.

Andrew regularly advises on music and book publishing agreements, licensing arrangements and merchandising agreements. In this area, he has acted for Apple Corps in the dispute with Apple Computer and for the estate of George Harrison in a royalty dispute.

He studied at Hertford College, Oxford, completed his professional examinations at the College of Law in London and joined Eversheds in 1999. Andrew also has a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from Bristol University.
