Where should I study my LPC or GDL?
Whilst we wish to remain as flexible as possible by leaving the choice of institution down to you, we recommend you study for your GDL or LPC at an institution which is as near as possible to the office where you will undertake your training contract. This will give you an opportunity to meet future colleagues and network with local contacts.
What electives should I choose at LPC?
Electives should reflect the areas of work that we cover at Eversheds and should be in the corporate context. We recommend you take electives such as commercial dispute resolution, commercial law, employment law and practice, banking, debt finance, public companies, equity finance, advanced commercial litigation, advanced commercial property, private acquisitions, intellectual property, advanced property law and practice. For more information on our areas of work, please see the Services and Sectors section. If in doubt, please contact your Graduate Recruitment Adviser.
When is our maintenance paid?
GDL and LPC maintenance is paid in two instalments, one at the end of September and one at the end of January.
Who do we speak to for references if we’re leasing a flat or arranging a mortgage?
You should send all reference requests to Louise Ferris, HR Centre Administrator, HR Centre, 115 Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 3AL or to louiseferris@eversheds.com
Who do I contact if I want to get involved in sports teams at my local office?
Please contact Laura Hancock (laurahancock@eversheds.com) who can forward your details to the relevant person.
When do I have the opportunity to see my future intake/colleagues?
We organise at least two events throughout the year where you’ll have an opportunity to meet with your future intake/colleagues. We would also be delighted if you’d like to be involved in graduate recruitment activities whilst you’re continuing your studies, particularly if you’re in your final year at university, or alumni of a particular university.
Who do I contact if I fail an exam?
You must contact Laura Hancock (laurahancock@eversheds.com) or your local Graduate Recruitment Adviser to advise them of this and to discuss how this may affect your training contract.
Can I defer my start date?
We are flexible in our start dates and can work with you to agree a more appropriate time for you to start.
