APPLICATION FAQS
Do you mind where I do my LPC?
We like to be as flexible as possible by leaving the choice of institution down to you, but we do recommend you study for your GDL (if applicable) and LPC at an institution as near as possible to the office where you’ll undertake your training contract. This will enable you to meet some of your future colleagues and be in a better position to attend formal and informal events arranged by your future office.
Should I take any particular electives at law school?
Take electives that are business law related. We give further guidance on these at offer stage.

Are there any opportunities to move around the firm during and after training?
Yes. Some trainees may go on secondments with clients or spend time at our Paris or Shanghai office. At qualification you are able to apply for roles in all the other offices and you may be able to work with any of our clients or in other offices at any time during your career.
What international secondment opportunities are there?
Wherever possible, we encourage international secondments, both for trainees and qualified lawyers. Our growing international business is ideal for being able to cultivate these secondments. Currently we offer secondments to trainees in Paris and Shanghai and we have plans to expand this to our other international offices.
How are you selected for a secondment? Do you need to speak the relevant language?
It is up to you to apply. We make a choice based on who we think best suits the particular role. For some overseas secondments, it is important you speak the relevant language but we can give you language training where applicable.
Does the firm organise any social events?
Yes - lots of them. You won’t be short of things to do, or people to do them with. We work closely as a team and like to socialise together, too.
Do you accept applications from candidates who require work permits?
We do accept applications from candidates who need a work permit. Applicants will usually need to be studying or working in the UK or have done so in the past. The offer of a training contract will be subject to proof of the right to live and work in the UK, or in appropriate cases, Eversheds securing a work permit.
Which office should I do my vacation scheme in?
You should apply for a vacation scheme in the office where you see yourself working as a trainee. This will give you the opportunity to meet potential future colleagues and experience working life in that office.
What should I do if I am already qualified in another country?
If you are already qualified in another country you may be able to take the QLTT, qualified lawyers transfer test in order to be able to practise in the UK. Please refer to the Law Society’s website at www.lawsociety.org.uk to find out more information.
