INTERVIEW HINTS & TIPS

Vacation scheme interview

You will be interviewed at whichever office you apply to. This gives us both the chance to meet face-to-face as well as allowing you to get a feel for Eversheds’ culture.

We will be using a structured interview, based on the skills and behaviours we have identified as being necessary for our trainee solicitors.

The interview will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour, and there will be time for you to ask questions. The dress code for the interview is smart business dress.

Preparing for the interview

Revisit your original research into our company, and what we are looking for, by referring to our website and other marketing material.

  • Think about why you have chosen to apply to Eversheds and our trainee programme, and what you can contribute
  • Ask your careers service if they offer mock interviews
  • Prepare and take questions into the interview. This is your chance to find out more, and we are happy for you to bring written or pre-prepared questions
  • Check your travel details and timings. If you have concerns about whether you’ll be able to arrive on time for the interview, please contact us well in advance. We will pay your travel expenses, so do not forget to bring a receipt.
  • Re-read your initial application form as we may ask you questions about what you have written

Assessment centre

The centre will allow you to demonstrate your skills in different situations. Our assessment event consists of a commercial role play, an in-tray exercise, a business analysis exercise, a client letter drafting exercise, and an interview. We assume candidates have no knowledge of the law, therefore all students are on an equal footing.
