THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Although 60 per cent of our trainees have studied law, we accept and welcome applications from all degree disciplines. All candidates can apply for our vacation schemes and training contracts.
Forty per cent of trainees come from a non-law background. They bring a wealth of alternative experience that can only benefit a growing and diverse firm like ours. We want you to be able to develop your personal skills in an environment that is built around developing and acquiring skills. Graduates who have experience of business or an exacting science bring a different skill-set to those who bring extra language, writing skills or a completely alternative career. Vacation scheme
We run these in Easter and summer for any graduate or undergraduate interested in learning a bit more about life at Eversheds. You can find more information about the scheme and the kind of things you will be involved in here.
You apply online between 1 October 2007 and 31 January 2008 and then take two ability tests during which we screen you against set criteria.
If you are shortlisted, we will invite you to our offices for an interview with one of our partners. These schemes are very popular; early application is vital. If you make it onto the vacation scheme and do exceptionally well, you may be offered a future training contract and support with your studies.
Direct application
If you have finished your degree or your circumstances mean you can’t attend a vacation scheme, you should apply directly for a training contract. The online application form is open all year round. If you pass the application screening and the ability tests, you will be invited to an assessment centre where you’ll demonstrate your skills in different situations, and get to know us better. We run assessment centres in all of our offices throughout the year. They include a commercial role-play, in-tray exercise, business analysis exercises and an interview. We assume candidates have no knowledge of the law; so all students are on an equal footing. We will notify you of your result as soon as possible. And if you want to come in and get to know us more, we can arrange that as well.
