Pro Bono Legal Work

Every year we provide free legal advice to lots of individuals and organisations.  This work is done by a broad range of people at all levels within the firm and can be done from anywhere at anytime.  It enables our lawyers to use their skills and knowledge to give something back, and can help trainees gain exposure to work that they might not normally get to do.  Like chargeable work, pro bono work can be shared between offices and does not need to be location specific.

The majority of our pro bono work is referred to us by LawWorks.  Eversheds is a signatory to the Pro Bono Protocol. Visit the LawWorks website for details.

Legal Advice Clinics

A number of lawyers volunteer to provide their services at local legal advice clinics.  This can be as part of the law faculty at a local university, through a specialist legal advice centre or as part of the citizens advice bureau.

Recent examples of pro bono work include:

  • Advising Crisis on the development of their new Skylight Centre in Oxford
  • Providing free legal advice to the Lithuanian National Football Association
  • Creating the ‘Internet Start Up programme' which provides specialised legal service free of charge to Polish entrepreneurs whose activity is internet or technology related
  • Supporting drop in advice sessions at Northumbria University's Student Law Office
