We have extensive experience of advising on all aspects of construction projects including:

  • drafting and negotiating all construction documents including building contracts, consultants' appointments, collateral warranties, framework agreements, bonds and parent company guarantees
  • advising from a procurement perspective including in relation to notices for contractors and/or consultants to be submitted to OJEU and on the terms of Invitations to Tender
  • advising on documentation relating to two-stage tendering
  • drafting, negotiating and reviewing construction project documents for major education projects such as PFI and BSF projects (including construction provisions in project agreements, construction contracts, framework agreements and any other project documents relating to construction), and
  • advising on the management of contracts once they are in place and all aspects of dispute resolution (including adjudication, mediation, legal proceedings and arbitration).

Projects

We understand that different clients have varying requirements depending on their size, experience and the nature of the construction project they are undertaking. Examples of the types of project we have successfully delivered include:

  • advising colleges of further education on more than 20 major campus redevelopment projects in the last 18 months totalling in excess of £230m
  • putting in place long term consultant and contractor framework agreements for multi-project campus redevelopment programmes for the University of Manchester, University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Brunel University
  • advising on ten different building contracts for the University of Manchester in respect of a £360m construction programme
  • advising sponsors on Unity City Academy, Excelsior Academy and on framework appointments of consultants and contractors including full liaison with DfES and DfES appointed project managers
  • acting for local authorities in relation to BSF projects in Stoke on Trent, North Lincolnshire, Haringey and Sunderland including the procurement of academies.
