Construction and Engineering

Key challenges for the food sector

We understand that procuring a new food production facility is not just about the building or item of equipment but is about our clients' businesses - what they need to produce, how they produce it and in what quantities.

Standard engineering and construction contracts do not deal with food safety (for example, the need for high risk and low risk areas and positive air pressure from the high risk to the low risk areas), product throughput requirements, continuity of production or health and safety matters specific to the food sector.

These factors can be critical to the success of our clients' business and we can ensure that the terms on which our clients employ contractors and consultants take account of them. We can also help if our clients are experiencing problems with new facilities/equipment.

How we can help

We assist our food sector clients, which include food producers, distributors and retailers, with projects such as the development of new or extended premises and with the installation of plant, equipment and automated manufacturing lines for their businesses producing, distributing or selling food. Our work extends to assisting clients with projects to improve their clean energy profile and to develop new income streams by the introduction of CHP plants, waste product to energy plants and wind turbines.

We also manage and resolve disputes which can arise during the development or equipment installation process, for example, when new premises or equipment are defective or do not meet our clients' requirements.
