Regeneration

Any regeneration project will involve harnessing a number of different legal skills, particularly in relation to the construction delivery of the finished project. We are expert at working with colleagues across a wide range of disciplines including the establishment of delivery structures and vehicles, procurement, land assembly and development, planning and CPO, state aid, environment and public law as well as construction.
Whatever the transaction requires, whether it be project management, business planning, economic appraisal - we know the right people.

How we can help

We act for both the public and private sector across a large number of complex regeneration projects. We believe an effective delivery strategy requires a project management approach via a single point of contact. The key to our success is being able to harness our specific construction skills acting in harmony with the many other regeneration specific legal skills required to deliver such projects.

Our clients include English Partnerships, the Regional Development Agencies, Central and Local Government, private sector developers, funders and establish regeneration specific vehicles such as the URCs.

Projects

As a firm we are market leaders in regeneration. Our list of experience is significant and encompasses by way of example:

  • LDA/ODA - Acting as lead legal advisers on all aspects of the undergrounding project to relocate existing overhead electricity lines into two, six kilometre long tunnels. This £300m project is on time and on budget and is critical to the regeneration of the area in and around the Olympic Park. This project alone will open up sufficient land to create one of the biggest urban parks in Europe for 150 years.
  • Vinci/St Modwen - We acted for the private sector consortium Vinci and St Modwen which has recently completed on the Ministry of Defences Project MoDEL. The scheme was substantially to redevelop the main military VIP airfield in London (circa. £100m capital ) for the disposal of six surplus MoD sites in Greater London with the combined land value, once planned, estimated at £400m.
  • Colchester Borough Council - Advising the council on a new community stadium and associated infrastructure works. This development has been structured to unlock a new access route into Colchester and will enable release of significant development and housing land.
  • TfL - Acting for TfL in connection with the Shoreditch Station regeneration at Bishopsgate.
