The challenges for employers

Dealing with day-to-day HR issues can involve a number of challenges:

  • What are our legal obligations?
  • How do we deal with this in practice?
  • What are the risks in taking a particular approach?
  • What could be the liability?
  • I know what I want to achieve but how do I do that in practice with as little risk as possible?

Having a helpline service in place to deal with HR situations on the ground can meet these challenges. Far better for you to take advice and get the process right now, than have to defend your decisions in a tribunal later.

How we can help

We can provide a 24 hour, 365 day per annum telephone and e-mail helpline service to provide employers with immediate access to employment law advice.  We would agree a dedicated team to ensure that there is consistency and agree service levels, such as response times and who in your organisation can use the service. We can even set up a dedicated e-mail address for helpline queries, for example, johnsmithlimitedhelpline@eversheds.com.

We have found that acting correctly at the time issues arise is by far the most cost-effective way to proceed and many potential tribunal claims can be avoided at an early stage. The Helpline can also assist employers in identifying trends and training needs, all of which assist an employer to manage the risks and costs associated with employees.
