Our available training courses:

  • Bribery Act 2010: enforcing ethical business

The new Act, which will come into force in April 2011, is a modern, comprehensive law intended to stamp out bribery and will boost the UK's reputation in fighting corruption.
  • Conducting accident investigations

This course will show how the HSE/Police will investigate a serious incident, and explain the different approaches taken with witnesses and suspects. It will highlight the key considerations for you if faced with an accident investigation.
  • Considering converting to an academy? The knowledge you need for a smooth transition

The Academies Act completely changes the way academies are established. The Act creates a new streamlined system for outstanding schools to convert to academy status if they wish, without the need for an external sponsor. However, the decision whether to apply for academy status raises legal as well as educational and financial issues. The Government recognises this and is providing funding to enable schools applying to convert to obtain legal advice.
  • Creating KPIs for your external lawyers - How to measure value and effectiveness

This interactive afternoon session will examine best practice in measuring performance and ‘talking in numbers’ in a way that is meaningful to the rest of the business. This is more important than ever because of the pressures on cost and the need to manage your law firm panel and to be able to show that you are doing so. This session consists of three 40 minute segments looking at different aspects of Key Performance Indicators.
  • Cross-Channel HR - Sharing best practice on handling French employment issues

This is a workshop-style breakfast discussion with your peers, focused on French employment issues for those based in the UK.
  • Current developments in employment law - storm before the calm?

Although the new Government is committed to deregulation, there is as yet no let up in the pace of change in employment law.
  • Discrimination update and equality (staff and students)

Discrimination risks arise throughout an employment and student relationship, beginning before an individual has been recruited or registered and continuing after the relationship has ended.
  • Employee relations: working effectively with your union and employee representatives

In a tough economy, many employers are forced to restructure and cut costs, often straining relationships with unions. Even those employers not as severely affected are still finding it difficult to manage employee and union pay expectations against a backdrop of rising costs. Last year, days lost to strike action increased for the first time in a decade, a trend that seems set to continue.
  • Essential employment law for HR professionals

HR professionals and managers need to understand the legal framework that underpins the employment relationship.
  • European HR - Cross-border employment law

Managing teams of people is challenging at the best of times. Working across European borders is even more difficult, due to cultural and legal differences.
  • Eversheds' 5th Annual Pensions Conference 2010

We are pleased to confirm that Pensions Minister Steve Webb MP will share his views at this year's conference together with Kay Carberry, Assistant General Secretary of the TUC; Katja Hall, Director of Employment Policy at the CBI and Alan Pickering CBE. A full programme and speaker line up will be available shortly.
  • Food and Drink Sector Seminars

A half day seminar covering hot topics and legal issues affecting the Food & Drink Sector.
  • Health and safety summer school: policy, law and good practice

Media myths around health and safety do an injustice to the passion and commitment of safety professionals and the importance and effectiveness of their work. Actions taken to improve H&S make organisations more efficient, almost always improving productivity and profitability, and they prevent ruined lives. This two-day summer school is aimed at confident H&S professionals and covers developments in policy, law and in good practice.
  • Health and safety update: fire, asbestos and key cases

Four massive fines have been handed out to major employers following breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. This update will cover how the legislation was applied in these cases and the steps you need to take as a consequence.
  • In House Counsel update seminars

We are delighted to invite you to join us for the next round of Eversheds in-house counsel update seminars. These seminars are free and are aimed at busy in-house lawyers, providing an update on a wide assortment of topics but concentrating on what you need to know and look out for.
