HR
Our law firm is committed to providing a great service to our clients - both internal and external. HR supports this goal by ensuring that we nurture and develop individuals to achieve their personal goals and deliver their best work. We ensure they've got clear objectives, help them identify and meet learning and development needs, and do all we can to help them achieve a fulfilling career. If our people are challenged, supported and happy we believe this will reflect in the work they deliver to clients and make Eversheds a truly great place to work.
HR supports partners, managers and team leaders by providing advice on a broad range of issues such as structural change, resources, development, planning and compensation and benefits. Our teams are based in each of our regions: North, Central, and London South, East and International. In addition, we have an HR Centre in Birmingham to assist with central administration and processes. We work closely with our six practice groups and business services teams both locally and internationally.
If you would like to be a part of a results-focused HR team in an international business; if you want a role that involves genuine teamwork and individual accountability and where you get involved in a wide range of interesting issues and national projects, then we would love to hear from you.
Information Technology
Supporting over 4,000 employees and partners across the UK and Europe requires an IT team that is fast moving and reactive to client needs. We have an agile infrastructure which allows us to deliver solutions both within the firm and externally. We work in an environment where there is a drive for improving our client service through the use of the latest technology.
The IT team has spent four years bringing together various processes and technologies. As we build on this foundation, we are in the position to deliver results. We're working to provide greater mobility that allows our legal advisers to work more effectively away from the office. We are overhauling our telephony systems and refreshing the infrastructure to deliver competitive advantage to the firm. We are also developing IT standards and procedures based on the IT Infrastructure Library and governance in line with BS15000 (IT Service Management), ISO9000 (Quality standards) and BS7799 (security).
We recruit individuals from a wide range of sector backgrounds, including manufacturing and retail through to accountancy, financial institutions and professional services. Where you have worked is not as important as the attitude and skills you bring with you. We require individuals who are comfortable taking responsibility and delivering in a busy but friendly and supportive environment. However, you can, be assured that you will be able to get close to the business and close to our clients, allowing you to gain a wide variety of technical and commercial experience.
Marketing
The marketing team supports Eversheds in four distinct areas: marketing communications, business development, business analysis and communications (which includes internal communications, brand management and PR). We have teams situated at all of our larger offices who assist in their local markets, advise our six practice groups and emerging sectors, and contribute to firmwide projects.
We welcome applications from marketeers whether from professional services or any other industry sector. Your attitude and commitment to improving the value of the service we provide to all our clients is paramount. We value knowledge of the legal and professional markets but we also recognise that experience from elsewhere can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to improve the way we deliver our services.
We particularly look for individuals with creativity who want to join a progressive and exciting firm and who passionately want to help us achieve our aims of winning and maintaining exciting business and setting new standards for putting the client at the heart of everything we do.
Information Services
The information and knowledge services team plays an important role in supporting our expanding internal and external client base, ensuring that our lawyers and clients receive the right information at the right time.
We deliver firmwide legal and business research services, current awareness and knowledge initiatives. In addition, the team is involved in training our people to increase their skills in electronic sources and research techniques.
Our teams, who are based in each of our offices, are made up of information assistants, information officers and IS programme managers, many of whom are educated to post graduate level. We primarily look for individuals who are dynamic, ambitious and committed to developing careers in a demanding corporate environment. In return we will provide the opportunity for you to become involved in challenging IS projects and product development.
Finance
The finance function within Eversheds aims to provide a world class service to the business. This is achieved through our five core teams of financial operations, commercial accounting, financial reporting and control, partner services, and internal audit.
The financial operations team is the largest area, consisting of individuals who are involved in a range of activities working within the framework of solicitors accounting rules (SAR). This includes revenue and credit control, billing, cashiering, purchase ledger, payroll and procurement.
The commercial accounting team provides commercially focused advice and analysis to practice group heads, business service heads and partners on how to improve the financial performance of clients and teams. It also advises on strategy, budgeting, pricing for tenders and rate reviews.
The financial reporting and control team is responsible for the publication of monthly financial reports, the statutory accounts of the business, cash flow management, VAT, balance sheet review, month end reconciliations and liaison with external organisations requiring financial information about the firm.
The partner services team supports the partners with their personal financial affairs within the business, including taxation matters. This team also deals with the tax implications of strategic business decisions.
We recruit for individuals at all levels and support a number of people each year to achieve various professional qualifications such as AAT, CIMA and, ACCA. We encourage applications from individuals with experience from any industry sector, but in particular we look for people with a desire to work in a dynamic finance function that is committed to providing world class service that will influence and inform business decisions.
Internal Audit
The internal audit team provides assurance on internal controls and supports the firm in delivering excellent service to its clients. Reporting directly to the Chairman, the internal audit team is independent of the finance function, although it works closely with it, and covers all aspects of the firm's operations in its work.
Facilities
The facilities team has responsibility for our ten UK offices to provide workplaces that are comfortable, clean, safe and secure as well as supporting the internal client base.
Our responsibilities include client services, support services and managing the maintenance of our buildings. We have responsibility for health and safety, business continuity and environmentally friendly working practices. The team provides a professional welcome to our clients. They ensure that calls are answered promptly, clients receive a friendly greeting, and meetings and training courses are conducted in a professional environment.
We provide an efficient postal and reprographics service to Eversheds, ensuring the post is efficiently distributed and that photocopying is professionally prepared within requested time scales.
We particularly look for individuals who are committed to providing a friendly and efficient service to both internal and external clients.
