Workplace

Our people mean everything to us at Eversheds. They drive our business and give us our unique culture. We have a duty to give them the best possible environment to deliver a fantastic service to our clients.

Here's some examples of how we go about doing this:

Being flexible

We were the first UK law firm to introduce a flexible working scheme - Lifestyle. This has been used by hundreds of staff members right up to partner level. It gives our people the chance to reorganise their schedules to fit in better with their lives outside the office. We know from feedback that this supports staff retention and continuity of service. An informal flexible working option was introduced recently and has proved highly popular.

Diversity

We believe in attracting the best people from the widest pool of talent. Diversity matters to us and we have invested time and resources into ensuring we make it a reality. Diversity Steering Committee, led by our Chairman Alan Jenkins, is leading the development and implementation of the Eversheds diversity strategy. It includes people with a broad range of views, experience and influence. Caroline Wilson, our former Human Resources Director, has been appointed as our firm's dedicated Head of Diversity and CR and is bringing all of her experience to drive this strategy.

Sharing profit

Our firmwide profit sharing scheme allows staff to enjoy the rewards of their hard work. The innovative profit sharing system we use for equity partners rewards them according to their individual contribution in a transparent and measurable way. The people who work with these partners - including their teams and their clients - all feedback into the process.

Listening to people

We regularly carry out surveys into the attitudes and thoughts of our staff. The results give us vital information for formulating future strategy as well as confirming that we're on the right path. The vast majority of people agree that Eversheds is a great place to work.

Providing direction

We recognise that support staff are just as vital as lawyers to the service we deliver. Our Career Pathways scheme provides our business services team people with a clear picture of where they're headed in the firm.

Every year, each staff member has a Personal Development Review. This is an opportunity for them to sit down with a peer or team leader and take part in an open discussion. They talk about how they've performed, how they could improve and any training that might help them achieve their goals. All our managers also have a full 360 degree feedback as an integral part of their review. This gives peers, team members and their own manager the opportunity to comment on their performance against our key competencies.

Recognising achievement

Our monthly reward and recognition scheme encourages staff to nominate the people who they think have done the most to further the Eversheds cause. The winners are announced and suitable prizes are given.

Safe working environment

We promote high standards of health and safety at work which we expect all staff to follow. We are committed to ensuring employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment.
