Celebrating International Women's Day
International Women's Day is celebrated across the globe on 8 March each year to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women, past, present and future.
Monday 8 March 2010 saw Eversheds people in more than 17 countries undertaking a range of activities to raise money for breast cancer research, an important health issue which touches women and men worldwide. Following the success of 2009 when we raised over £5000, activities 2010 included 'Wear it Pink', the sale of pink ribbon badges (the international symbol for breast cancer), pink cakes in staff restaurants, raffles, an English afternoon tea event in Lithuania, and lots more - view the photos below.
The charities benefiting from our fundraising activities included Breast Cancer Campaign, A Sister's Hope, Institut Curie, Nedelsk, Reden, the German Breast Cancer Foundation, CANSA and The Future Centre. Just under £7000 was raised.
As over 60% of our people are female, Eversheds is full of talented and successful women. We have created an online magazine to showcase just some of the achievements and successes that women in our firm have accomplished professionally or personally, through significant charitable activities, or challenges they have overcome. Click here to read the magazine and be inspired.
