Eversheds International
Global homeInterview hints and tips
Vacation scheme interview
Where possible you will be interviewed at the office you apply to. This gives us both the chance to meet face-to-face as well as allowing you to get a feel for Eversheds' culture.
We will be using a structured interview, based on the information you give us in your application form and the skills and behaviours we have identified as being necessary for our trainee solicitors.
The interview will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour, and there will be time for you to ask questions. The dress code for the interview is smart business dress, to reflect our head office policy.
Preparing for the telephone interview
Preparing for a telephone interview should treat this in the same way as preparing for a face to face interview. Ensure you find a quite room and allow plenty of time to ensure that you will not be disturbed by others. The telephone interview it's self will be approximately 30 minutes in length and will cover some competency questions and will also assess your knowledge of the industry that both ourselves and our clients operate in.
Preparing for the interview
Revisit your original research into our company, and what we are looking for, by referring to our website and other marketing material.
- Think about why you have chosen to apply to Eversheds and our trainee programme, and what you can contribute.
- Ask your careers service if they offer mock interviews.
- Prepare and take questions into the interview. This is your chance to find out more, and we are happy for you to bring written or pre-prepared questions.
- Check your travel details and timings. If you have concerns about whether you'll be able to arrive on time for the interview, please contact us well in advance.
- Re-read your initial application form as we may ask you questions about what you have written.
Assessment centre
The centre will allow you to demonstrate your skills in different situations. Our assessment event consists of a commercial role play, a business analysis exercise and a client letter drafting exercise. We assume candidates have no knowledge of the law, so all students are on an equal footing.
