Environmental regulation
Navigating the ever-expanding body of Chinese environmental regulation and keeping track of its frequent changes at both local and national level is very difficult for all foreign industry in China. Coupled with these problems are the complications of knowing how regulations will be enforced, and obtaining an accurate prospective on environmental risk, both for day-to-day operations and during corporate acquisitions.
Our team in China understands the environmental regulations and have continually monitored the changes. We have experience in advising on these issues and in dealing with regulatory authorities.
Examples of our work include:
- advising a Dutch multi-national manufacturing corporation on various environmental matters, including the restructuring of environmental arrangements at a large chemical facility and the environmental compliance of its China facilities,
- advising a US chemical company on a joint venture in Jiangsu Province, including advice on environmental compliance and safe production compliance,
- advising a global leader in anti-virus software on environmental requirements under China RoHS legislation,
- assisting a European printing and packaging company to negotiate and document a solution with the Shanghai Government concerning wastewater treatment on the Huangpu River of the pigments facility that it was in the process of acquiring from a multi-national chemicals manufacturing corporation.
