Practice notes
Christopher is Managing Partner of Eversheds' Middle East business. He trained with Eversheds before joining a City firm, spending time in their Hong Kong and Dubai offices in the 1990s before returning to work for Eversheds. Formerly a regional head of department of an Eversheds core practice area, Christopher moved to Qatar in January 2004 to initiate and subsequently manage Eversheds operations in the Middle East.
Unusually for a Managing Partner in the region, Christopher's main practice area is domestic and international litigation and arbitration including the handling of "wet and dry" maritime matters. His clients include regional and international energy companies; financial institutions; and publicly listed entities. His shipping clients include P&I Clubs; ship-owners; charterers; logistics organisations; and classification societies. The matters handled are often complex, high profile and with very significant amounts in dispute. Recent instructions include advising on EPC (and other) contracts for infrastructure and petrochemical projects; issues arising out of commercial property projects, allegations of professional negligence; and matters arising out of the sinking of a vessel with the significant loss of life.
His non contentious work includes advising clients on the sale, purchase and finance of ships and the drafting/negotiation of related documentation including mortgages and other security.
Christopher is a regular speaker at events and a contributes to regional and international press and industry specific publications.
