What we do for our clients

The global logistics industry faces many unique challenges, including legislation and governance of the sector; environmental issues and the ever-increasing pressure to reduce the carbon footprint; and energy costs and the need for global players to operate fluidly across national borders whilst maintaining efficiency and service levels.

We are ideally placed to work alongside logistics businesses to address these challenges and maximise opportunities for growth, through outsourcing and globalisation, and equally to work with them through the economic downturn. We also provide our clients across the globe with a team of lawyers whose focus is on forward thinking solutions and advice.

Our dedicated logistics group provides you with quality advice that cuts across several legal disciplines, but you also benefit from our in-depth industry knowledge which has been key to our working successfully with many logistics clients across the globe. Our specialists are based in over 30 countries across the UK, mainland Europe and Asia which means that we can provide quality advice on multi-jurisdictional transactions to an international industry.  We have extensive experience working with both regional and large multi-national logistics companies and regularly handle work in the following key areas:

  • mergers and acquisitions
  • competition
  • tax
  • criminal and regulatory
  • environmental
  • insurance
  • human resources (e.g. dealing with such issues as the working time directive)
  • joint ventures
  • real estate (i.e. warehousing and lease arrangements)
  • dispute resolution
  • outsourcing and other specialist areas

The Eversheds Logistics team also works alongside the Rail, Road, Ports, Aviation, Automotive and Shipping teams meaning that we have expert lawyers with specialist knowledge across the whole transport industry.

Innovation in our sector

A key aspect to our approach to partnering is our use of PricewaterhouseCoopers' model of Business Process (BPR) review.  We have a dedicated team trained in BPR best practice, led by a full time director, who have over the last few years gained significant experience of conducting process efficiency reviews across many areas of our own and our clients' businesses.  This helps our clients to realise efficiencies, cost savings, along with increased quality and improved response times of the work we deliver.  We have a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and a desire to place our clients' interests first.  In October 2008, the Financial Times 'highly commended' our BPR work with in its 'Innovative Lawyers 2008' awards.
