Internal investigations
The challenges
From the moment an internal fraud is discovered, it is important to ensure a co-ordinated response and investigation strategy involving all the key areas of the organisation. A large number of issues need to be considered including HR, legal, accounting, reporting, regulatory, internal and external communications, IT, document management and evidence gathering. Decisions made in the immediate response to the discovery of a fraud can have a massive impact on the eventual outcome of any civil or criminal proceedings.
A badly run investigation can lead to regulatory intervention, loss of opportunity to recover assets and even criminal prosecution.
How we can help
Our team has conducted many internal fraud investigations into issues such as embezzlement, employee corruption, supplier fraud and complex revenue recognition and accounting irregularities We have experienced fraud investigators who will help your internal team co-ordinate and execute the investigation.
Where necessary we will seek emergency court injunctions to preserve evidence and assets.
We will put together a team with relevant industry or sector expertise. We can also engage third parties including IT experts and forensic accountants to assist in the investigation if necessary.
We will liaise with the police and regulators where appropriate and can assist with the preparation of evidence packs to maximise the potential of police involvement.
