Pensions training
The challenge for employers and trustees
Pensions law and practice is constantly changing so it is essential that trustees, company directors and HR specialists undertake regular training in order to stay up to speed with the latest developments.
Trustee training
Trustees are required by law to have knowledge and understanding of their scheme, the law relating to pensions and trusts and the principles relating to funding and investment. Therefore, it is vital that trustees undertake regular training to ensure that they meet this requirement. Regular training will also help to ensure that trustees operate to the high standard that is needed in order to reduce errors and ensure the good administration of their scheme.
In order to enable trustees to satisfy the trustee knowledge and understanding requirement and maintain high levels of competency we run regular training events including bespoke trustee training, an introductory course, regular pensions briefings and an annual pensions conference.
Corporate training
It is vital that company directors, HR managers and members of an employer's HR team are familiar with the legal issues that affect their company's pension arrangements. We, like our clients, recognise that timely and relevant training enables an employer to ensure that it complies with its legal obligations and conduct its affairs more effectively.
We help by training our clients so they can gain knowledge, confidence and the requisite skills to run their pension arrangements. We provide general and bespoke training for employers on issues such as:
-
scheme funding
-
making changes to a scheme
-
resolving disputes
-
managing conflicts of interest
-
the pensions aspects of corporate transactions (including clearance and anti-avoidance)
-
the role of the Pensions Regulator
-
equal treatment and discrimination
-
section 75 and employer debts
-
winding-up a scheme.
Pensions briefings
Throughout the year we run a number of free pensions seminars around the country, which examine the latest developments in pensions law and practice. These seminars are aimed at trustees, company directors, HR professionals, actuaries and other pensions advisors and they are designed to give them an insight into the hottest pensions topics.
For invites to these briefings please subscribe.
Annual pensions conference
Each year we run a pensions conference aimed at company directors, trustees, HR professionals and pension scheme advisers. Our conference is designed to provide delegates with an update on the key current and future issues affecting occupational pension provision in the UK. It also gives delegates an opportunity to hear the views of leading industry figures and to find out what other schemes are doing.
Feedback from delegates who attended last year's conference:
"Varied, lively and interesting."
Terry Blackmore, Legal & General
"Very beneficial and a wide scope of topics."
Chris Fuller, MOL (Europe) Limited
